Classes By Request are a great option for your next group gathering. They can take place at the Guthrie or an offsite location. All classes are 90 minutes and are taught by Guthrie teaching artists or staff.

Intro to Shakespeare
Delve into Shakespeare - even if you never have before! Learn more about his plays, the language, movement and music with a special emphasis on upcoming Guthrie productions happening during the 2009-10 season. Great for high school or college groups, lifelong learners and teachers.
Once Upon a Time Kid Storytelling
Your child will discover - or rediscover - how to tell a story or create his or her own in an exciting and creative way. Hear popular stories delivered by Guthrie actors and learn where the classics originated. Great for ages 4 to 6, 6 to 8 and 9 to 11.Your Story: Intro to Memoirs
If you haven't yet started to put your memories on paper, our Introduction to Memoir Writing is for you! Learn the basics of getting your thoughts and ideas from pen to paper. Great for lifelong learners and family reunions.Acting Games for Beginners
If you've never tried acting before, our Acting Games for Beginners is the perfect starting point. Learn what methods and tricks of the trade actors and ensembles use to rev up their creative juices, tune up their spontaneity and stay in the moment. Great for middle school and high school groups, lifelong learners and community groups.Duke it Out: Intro to Stage Combat
An introduction for people of all ages to the swashbuckling excitement of stage combat. You and your classmates will learn the basic moves of sword play, choreographed punches and orchestrated falls. Great for family reunions or parties, community groups, lifelong learners and middle school and high school groups.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 20 students. Large groups will be split up appropriately according to the type of class and more teaching artists will be hired if necessary.
- It is best if requests are made three weeks in advance of the desired class date.
- Payment and final number of participants is due two weeks prior to class date.
Class Fees:
$300 per class for up to 20 participants.
$15 per person for each additional person.
Offsite classes are available in Minneapolis-St Paul, zip codes 55400-55488 and 55100-55188, for an additional $75 fee. Prices will vary for classes held outside of Minneapolis-St Paul. Please call 612.225.6172 or e-mail for information.
