Margolis Method takes the conceptual out of acting training by creating tangible, practicable exercises to hone and own the skill sets of the theatre artist's craft. The body, breath and imagination are linked in a manner that trains actors to be capable of bringing emotional and psychological concepts into the physical realm to share with an audience. By learning to delicately balance physical, intellectual and emotional expression an actor can work in what we call the "creative state." In this state of hyper-awareness actors can access deeper levels of creativity. The actor working within this state of integration has the power to engage audiences, stimulating their creative state as well.

The Margolis Method's clear and in-depth vocabulary offers actors, directors and playwrights a common language with which to more precisely communicate and increase all theatre artist's ability to articulate both what they see in others and want to express themselves.

Morning Session: The Total Theater Artist:
Merging the Skills of Playwright, Director and Actor

Over the course of the workshop each participant will wear all the "hats" of theatrical creation -- playwright, director and actor. We will explore how developing the ability to see theater three-dimensionally through each of these perspectives strengthens our understanding and ultimately makes more powerful the outcome of our creativity.

Afternoon Session: From Breath to Story:
A Theatrical Journey using the Margolis Method

Learn to create on your feet! Our bodies are our instruments: Rhythm, density and form are tools with which to "play" them -- and it all starts with the breath. Over the course of this workshop we will, starting with a single breath, explore the steps of dramaturgically creating performance by building dramatic packets of ideas, having clarity of intention and merging vocal and physical expression.
