As a trademark of the Dowling Studio, Nouvel included a daring design element: an amber glass cantilevered lobby with a breathtaking birds'-eye view of the Mississippi River, the Minneapolis skyline and adjacent landmarks. To obtain its signature hue, the glass is "fritted," or tempered, with a ceramic-based paint permanently bonded onto it.
The Dowling Studio is a totally private space and seats up to 175 for a sit-down event and uses the Pohlad Lobby as a cocktail reception space.
The Pohlad Lobby and amber box can be use for a sit-down event for up to 70, or for a reception space for up to 150.
