The Actors Workout
is an ongoing class for experienced actors
offered in association with the Guthrie Theater. Focusing on the growth and
development of the individual artist and presented in a supportive and
challenging environment, the class deals
with issues relevant to an actor's creative process as well as various working circumstances. It is designed to free the actor's creative spirit and to nurture innovation,
openness and courage. Scene work from film and theater is the primary
focus with critiques following.
The Actor's Workout is not for beginning actors or those under 18. It is primarily geared for actors with significant working experience or extensive professionally oriented training. This is a continuous class which gives the actor the ability to have a place to work on an ongoing basis.

Date & Time: Mondays 1:30 - 5 p.m.
For ages: 18 and up
Cost: $120 for 4 sessions

Teaching Artist: Raye Birk
is an accomplished stage,
film and television actor with nearly 150 television appearances and 20 feature
films to his credit, and it all began with an internship at the Guthrie
Theater. Raye moved on from the Guthrie to teach at Southern Methodist University
and to work as a performer, instructor, director and administrator for the
prestigious American Conservatory Theater of San Francisco. Raye has been in
over 22 Guthrie productions and will be seen next at the Guthrie Theater in our
2012 production of The Sunshine Boys. |
