2008 Summer Camp Registration Now Open
(Minneapolis/St. Paul) Registration is now open for week-long explorations in storytelling, improvisation, musical theater and Shakespeare, beginning June 16 in the Guthrie Learning Center. With uniquely gifted instructors and popular Guthrie artists leading the charge, Summer Camps at the Guthrie are the perfect summer outlet for young people ages 7 - 16. Get your child motivated and inspired and spark their imagination with theater games, creative movement, and engaging interaction. Whether they are looking to try something new or pursuing their passion for the arts, participants will join peers of all skill levels for a memory making week at a nationally recognized arts organization.
As a special benefit to this year's campers all students completing a summer camp will receive a voucher good for two preview tickets for Little House on the Prairie, the world premiere musical opening this summer at the Guthrie - a $100 value!

MAGIC, MIRTH AND MYSTERY
Explore the world of fantasy through storytelling and improvisation. Using fairy tales, myths and legends, students will learn valuable skills in acting, voice and movement from expert Guthrie instructors. Let your imagination run wild! Create your own journeys and explore scenes from great literature, and twist them to your own liking.

MUSICAL THEATER JOURNEYS
Learn the art of storytelling through musical theater. Create stories and put them together with songs to create your own play. With instruction in acting, singing and dance, students will develop musical theater skills. Using a variety of songs, fairy tales and legends, students will work with Guthrie instructors to direct and choreograph their piece to make it come to life.

MAKE ‘EM LAUGH
Explore the whole range of comic acting from commedia dell'arte to Monty Python. With instruction in improvisation, physical comedy and classical comic text, students will work with some of the most trained and experienced Guthrie comic actors to create their own comic sketches. Learn the fine art of pratfalls, slapstick and the banana peel.

BROADWAY BOUND FOR TEENS
Take part in an extensive immersion into all aspects of musical theater, with training in vocal singing, dance and acting. Taught by Guthrie performers, students will take part in daily movement and signing classes, as well as learn how to make bold acting choices for the "larger than life" qualities of musical theater.

CAMP SHAKESPEARE
Spend a week with the Bard as we concentration on the work of our greatest playwright. Led by experienced classical Guthrie actors, students will undergo training in acting, voice and movement using Shakespearean scenes and sonnets. Wield a staff! Rip off a string of Elizabethan insults! No previous experience with Shakespeare necessary.
