Memories of Macbeth 1995

"I completely buy into all the superstitions with that play, having had my own horrible frightening time with it," says Sally Wingert. "I know many, many productions that something has gone wrong, and it certainly went wrong with ours." Wingert was cast as one of the Weïrd Sisters and understudying Lady Macbeth. The day before the first preview, Wingert got a call that she would assume the role of Lady Macbeth for the entire run. "And I instantly burst into tears, I was shaking. I said, 'I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. This is not... no, no, no."
