Monica Rudquist's Guthrie pottery

Artist: Monica Rudquist
Item: Guthrie Theater Collection

This talented and recognized Minneapolis artist developed each piece of the Guthrie Theater Collection to emphasize the forms, shapes and color of the building's architecture. Capturing the spirit and energy of interior and exterior elements of the Guthrie, each piece is unique: hand thrown on a wheel and marked by the firing process. The forms are functional and meant to hold memories and turn daily activities into special occasions.

An graduate of Macalester College, St. Paul, with a M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan, Rudquist's work has been exhibited nationally and is collected widely. She is a frequent sought-after lecturer as an expert in the field and has served as instructor of ceramics at Bloomington Art Center, Edina Art Center, St. Olaf College and the College of St. Catherine, where she is currently teaching.
