Marketing

Purpose

An internship in the Marketing Department will provide an inside look and hands-on experience in all aspects of the Marketing Department of a professional theater company and its marketing strategies.

Prerequisites

The intern should have strong communication, organization, writing and problem solving skills. One should also be able to initiate and follow through on projects while at the same time, being able to accept guidance. An intern will work both individually and as part of a team. Adaptability and a need to achieve are a plus. Enthusiasm for the arts is necessary to understand the relationship between the theater and the community. Computer skills are an asset, particularly word processing and spreadsheets.

What to Expect

An intern will learn a great deal about target marketing, as well as advertising, direct mail and special promotions. They will develop planning and evaluation skills, writing skills and a basic understanding of advertising and graphic presentation. An intern can expect to work on various aspects of multiple projects, primarily relating to subscription, single ticket sales and community awareness.

Time Commitment

A minimum commitment of three months is expected, however, shorter internships are accepted if the recipient will be working full-time in the department.
