The Guthrie Theater presents
a Black Label Movement production of
choreographed and directed by Carl Flink
original music by Mary Ellen Childs
In Black Label Movement's riveting Wreck, 13 survivors caught in the hold of a fast sinking ship grapple with seemingly inevitable destruction. In this high-stakes setting where violence and cooperation, obsession and compassion, and fear and tenderness meet, the work asks how a community of strangers might face the Abyss. Created by 2012 McKnight Choreography Fellow Carl Flink and set to an original score by local composer Mary Ellen Childs, Wreck is a visceral feast for both eyes and ears.
"A stunning evening of dance...Wreck brings you up close and personal with an unforgettable evening of movement and music. Don't miss it." - Vita.mnDance Magazine declared, Wreck delivers "the combination of buoyant athleticism and feral intensity that is a hallmark of Flink's style. . . . [I]t's like watching a display of cascading fireworks."
Run time: approximately 75 minutes without an intermission. There will be no late seating or re-entry for this performance.
