Valerie is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program University. As a student she performed in LIZARDS as part of the BFA New Plays in the Guthrie's Dowling Studio, as well as MACBETH and A DOLL'S HOUSE. Her credits also include AS YOU LIKE IT and RICHARD III for Hudson Valley Shakespeare, CLOUD 9 for Shakespeare on the Cape, CORLEONE for the Minnesota Fringe Festival, and the film LIGHT AND DARKNESS: THE LIGHT.

I grew up in and around San Francisco, with plenty of sun, and mountains. I love nature and art, song, poetry and sports (I'm working on embracing competition), and I've a big interest in technology. In another life, I wrote haikus. I'm more extroverted than some people know, and more introverted than most would guess. I like to remember how little I know. I'm an idealist... probably.

Kathryn is excited to be playing Hermia as it offers her the opportunity to use words she wishes people did in real life (Canker-blossom is a favorite). Kathryn also played Hermia at Hope Repertory Theatre, where she also performed in OLIVER! And MISS NELSON IS MISSING. Last spring Kathryn wrapped up four years at the U of M/Guthrie BFA Program. Favorite roles: Medea in MEDIA, Mille in PICNIC and Diana in ALL'S WELL ENDS WELL. She's glad she took that judo class; it comes in handy for this production!

William Sturdivant attended the University of Minnesota / Guthrie Theater BFA Actor Training Program. At the Guthrie he has performed in last season's THE MERCHANT OF VENICE as well as ROMEO AND JULIET. As a member of Shakespeare on the Cape, William has performed in ROMEO AND JULIET and AS YOU LIKE IT. His Twin Cities experiences include: Pillsbury House Theatre's production of BEL CANTO, The Children's Theatre Company's SPLASH HATCH ON THE E GOING DOWN and REELING, among others.

This is Nic's first time back at the Guthrie after participating in the Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training where he performed with his fellow actors in training in CONFLUENCE. Nic has also performed at Trinity Repertory Company's THE CHERRY ORCHARD and A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Theatre in the Square's TARTUFFE, Spellman Theatre's MEDEA and Horizons Theatre's NEGRO DANCE LESSONS among others. Nic received his M.F.A. in acting and directing from Brown University this past year. He describes himself as the classic type of man... "I Live, Love, and Play HARD..."

WILDERNESS, Otto in THE MAGIC FIRE and Ebenezer Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Greatest Moment in the Theater: Cast and audience at the end of one-day three-play Histories cycle. Biggest Laugh ever on the Guthrie Stage: I'm not telling, but it happened in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM and I'm betting it'll happen again.

Namir is a Newark, NJ native and is a recent graduate of the U of M/Guthrie BFA Program. His latest roles include Penumbra Theatre's ON THE OPEN ROAD and Children's Theatre Company's BUD, NOT BUDDY. Recently featured in the STAR TRIBUNE's piece titled "Young Artists: On the Verge," Namir stated "I've always wanted to have the charisma of Denzel Washington, the dignity of Sidney Poitier, the work ethic of Samuel Jackson and the chameleon-like effect of Jeffrey Wright. I want to be a transformer, and pretty much be anyone."

In Midsummer, Emily plays the fairy queen and a retired Amazon warrior, fitting additions to a list that includes a traveling RV Hooker (Brandi, THE LUCKY ONES), a mermaid (Becky, HBO's "Flight of the Conchords,") Samson's downfall (Delilah, THE BLACK EYED at New York Theatre Workshop), a musician spurned by Lyle Lovett (Marie LaSalle, HIGH FIDELITY on Broadway), a restoration ingenue who befriends a transvestite prostitute (Hermione, MEASURE FOR PLEASURE at The Public Theater), and a notoriously ungrateful daughter (Regan, King Lear workshop with Kevin Kline at The Public Theater).

Not only is Richard Igleswki a Guthrie veteran, he is veteran of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, having performed in the past two productions of MIDSUMMER (1985, 1997) as well as for Chicago Shakespeare Theater and others. Throughout his impressive career he has been praised for his brilliant comedic breadth, and wide range of acting abilities. Believe it or not, Iglewski's credits include his role as a horse in the Guthrie's THE CANERBURY TALES, about which he said "I can play the whole gamut of horse emotions. It's on my resume."

A Minnesota native, Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Acting and Directing from Mankato State University. This season he appeared in Frank Theatre's gripping production of THE PILLOWMAN, and most recently in PEER GYNT. He won an Ivey Award in 2006 for his performance in KNOCK! about which CITY PAGES said "Lichtscheidl is the kind of actor who can make you laugh before he even opens his trap." Among other things, we hear he is also a pretty competitive scrabble player, especially with four-letter words!

Stephen Pelinski is a seasoned Guthrie actor, having performed in countless productions, including seven of the cherished holiday favorite, A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Earlier this season he played the deliciously handsome Elyot Chase in PRIVATE LIVES. Guthrie audiences may also recognize him from his recent roles in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE and LOST IN YONKERS. Pelinski has performed across the Twin Cities and in regional theatres across the country. Randy Reyes is a Libra who believes in balance through extremes. Growing up Randy wanted to be The Lone Ranger, Michael Jackson (before he became white) and Prince. Acting allows him to wear women's clothing without having to explain himself to his family. Randy is happily fianced to the lovely Simone Perrin and he's hoping that this job will help pay for their lavishly exotic wedding in the Yucatan. Sally joins the cast of MIDSUMMER on the heels of playing Laurie Jameson in THIRD. One might think a break would be needed after nearly seven weeks of performance, so how does Sally stay healthy and awake? By "laughing out loud... hard." Earlier this season, Sally was seen stealing scenes in PRIVATE LIVES, and last season she appeared in THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, A CHRISTMAS CAROL and THE REAL THING. As for her numerous other credits, this space can't do them justice. Let's just say... Sally casts spells. Come see her make magic.

In 1997 Stephen played such a memorable Snug he has come back to play Snug once again. The last time audiences saw Stephen on the Guthrie stage was last season's MAJOR BARBARA. Previous Guthrie productions include HAMLET, OEDIPUS, DEATH OF A SALES MAN (2004, 1991), BLUE/ORANGE, ROMEO AND JULIET, GOOD BOYS, A CHRISTMAS CAROL and THREE SISTERS, among countless others. If you haven't seen his work on the stage, perhaps you've spied Stephen as a guest star on Star Trek's Deep Space Nine episodes where he played Romulan Subcommander/General.

Erin resides in New York City where she is an associate teacher and coach at Maggie Flanigan Studios. This marks her second performance at the Guthrie, but her first in the new building. She would like to thank Joe Dowling and Ken Washington for first inviting her to be part of the Guthrie Experience for Actors in Training and inviting her back to be a part of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM. Ian Holcomb is a graduate of the U of M/Guthrie BFA Actor Training Program where he performed in PROCLIVITES, TARTUFFE, ORESTES, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, and ANGELS IN AMERICA. His first experience seeing Shakespeare at the Guthrie was the last MIDSUMMER at the theater on Vineland Place. It was also the first play he did in high school and the first Shakespeare he performed in college. He is excited to get in touch with his inner forest fairy while working with actors he has admired for years.

This is my third show at the Guthrie and I am very excited to be joining the League of Fairies. I never saw Joe's production of MIDSUMMER at the old Guthrie, but I do know that the original had both Kris Nelson and Bill McCallum playing fairies, big codpieces to fill without a doubt. (Or if that's too suggestive: shoes). Anyway, my favorite part about being a fairy is of course getting to fly. My least favorite part is the harness we have to wear while flying. I named mine "Pinchy."

Brian is happy to return to the Guthrie's thrust stage after appearing in last summer's "1776." Ever since the age of 2, he has longed to play the role of "Cobweb" the fairy in "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and after bumping off Brandon Weinbrenner, he finally got his chance! Brian has designed over 5,000 possible Cobweb costumes in case the chance to play the role ever arose, and he hopes to play the role for the rest of his professional career. Is this a dillusional fantasy? Yes. Yes it is.
