Lagoon to screen "Wrestling with Angels"

Wrestling With Angels - Playwright Tony Kushner, the latest award-winning feature documentary film directed and produced by Academy Award winner Freida Mock, will screen at the Landmark Lagoon Cinema in Uptown on May 23, 24 and 25.

Wrestling With Angels - Playwright Tony Kushner, the latest award-winning feature documentary film directed and produced by Academy Award winner Freida Mock (Maya Lin:  A Strong Clear Vision) opens for a limited engagement at the Lagoon Cinema during the city's KUSHNER CELEBRATION.  The film follows Tony Kushner, the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner and Academy Award nominee - and one of our leading playwrights and fiercest moral critics - during three tumultuous, productive years from September 11, 2001 to the 2004 Presidential elections, to reveal the passions and forces behind such landmark works as Angels in America; Caroline, and Change; Homebody Kabul; and the children's opera Brundibar.  Taking us from Kushner's childhood in small-town Louisiana to his development as a writer and activist, the film explores the mysteries of creativity and tells the inspiring story of how a passionately committed person can make a difference for a more literate and compassionate world.
