The Guthrie Theater today announced that film and television actress Gretchen Egolf will play Blanche DuBois, joining the previously announced Ricardo Antonio Chavira (Stanley Kowalski) and Stacia Rice (Stella Kowalski), in the Theater's summer production of Tennessee Williams' classic American play A Streetcar Named Desire.

Broadway producer Barry Weissler confirmed yesterday that The Scottsboro Boys will play Broadway's Lyceum Theater starting in October, shortly after the show concludes an 8-week summer run at the Guthrie Theater.

Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced the plays of the Theater's 2010-2011 mainstage season. Highlighting the work of artists both local and international, the season ranges from the world premiere by a Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright to classic works by Shakespeare and Shaw.

The 60th Annual Outer Critics Circle Awards were handed out today. The Scottsboro Boys and Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson tied for new Off-Broadway musical. Remarkably, this was not the only tie this year, as Bill T. Jones (Fela!) and Sergio Trukillo (Memphis) will share honors for Choreography, and Montego Glover (Memphis) and Catherine Zeta-Jones (A Little Night Music) will share honors for Actress in a Musical.

The Guthrie Theater today announced additional casting and the full creative team for the upcoming regional premiere of Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation, directed by Benjamin McGovern. University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program graduate Ali Rose Dachis, in her Guthrie debut, will play Lauren, alongside the four previously announced Guthrie veterans - Chris Carlson (James), Tracey Maloney (Theresa), Bill McCallum (Schultz) and Angela Timberman (Marty).

The Guthrie Theater today announced the casting of Ricardo Antonio Chavira as Stanley Kowalski in Tennessee Williams' masterpiece A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by John Miller-Stephany.
