The Guthrie today announced that Ella - after continuing to receive rousing nightly ovations - will extend its stay on the McGuire Proscenium Stage through September 20, adding 12 performances to meet audience demand. Hailed by the Star Tribune for her "pitch-perfect scattitude," actress Tina Fabrique leads the cast of this exhilarating musical, weaving myth, memory and music to tell the uplifting and poignant story of one of the greatest jazz and pop vocalists of the 20th century.

The Guthrie today announced the complete cast and creative team for director Joe Dowling's upcoming production of Oscar Wilde's most perfect comedy The Importance of Being Earnest, with actress Linda Thorson (best known for her role as Tara King in the classic 1960s British television series "The Avengers") leading the company as Lady Bracknell. Thorson will be joined onstage by John Skelley, a 2007 graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie Theater B.F.A. Actor Training Program and star of the 2009 Minnesota Fringe Festival audience favorite Jurassic Dork, as Algernon Moncrieff, with 2005 Juilliard graduate and rising film actor Nick Mennell playing Jack Worthing.

Ella company members Joilet F. Harris and George Caldwell will host two free events at the Minneapolis Convention Center (12noon-1p on both Wednesday, August 5 and Wednesday, August 12), providing a peek inside the life of one of the greatest jazz and pop vocalists of the 20th century.

The Guthrie today announced that Gretchen Bierbaum and Jeremiah Albrecht have won the theater's spectacular When We Are Married Dream Wedding Giveaway prize package valued at more than $60,000. After eight years of cold feet, this Minneapolis couple will be married on Sunday, August 16 by Guthrie veteran and Father of the Bride film star Peter Michael Goetz, who is currently performing in When We Are Married at the Guthrie.

Single tickets for the Guthrie Theater's 2009-10 season go on sale Sunday, July 19 at 11 a.m. The season includes 21 plays that are a blend of classics, fresh takes on timeless themes and exciting presentations - including renewed and continuing partnerships and the return of the Guthrie's prestigious WorldStage program.
