(Minneapolis/St. Paul) The Guthrie Theater congratulates Director Michael Greif, Scenic Designer Mark Wendland and Lighting Designer Kevin Adams on today's Tony Award nominations for their work on the new rock musical Next to Normal, which opened April 15 at the Booth Theatre on Broadway. The trio is currently at work on the Guthrie's commission of The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner. The world premiere production begins performances May 15 in Minneapolis.

Wendland, whose previous Broadway credits include Talk Radio, An Almost Holy Picture and the Tony-winning revival of Death of a Salesman, designed scenery and costumes for the Guthrie's 2004 production of Romeo and Juliet, as well as costumes for theater's 1995 production of Macbeth. Adams, who was also nominated today for his work on the revival of Hair, also makes his Guthrie debut.

The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures begins performances May 15, with an official press opening on May 22, and continues through June 28 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage at the Guthrie.
