Director of the Guthrie, Joe has directed countless productions on its stages since his arrival in 1995. Among them is his critically acclaimed production and tour     MIDSUMMER, as well as audience favorites such as THE HOME PLACE, THE MERCHANT OF VENICE, THE GLASS MENAGERIE, THE REAL THING, HAMLET, HIS GIRL FRIDAY, AS YOU LIKE IT, DEATH OF A SALESMAN, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, OTHELLO, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, THREE SISTERS, ALL MY SONS, AMADEUS, THE INVENTION OF LOVE, TWELFTH NIGHT, THE PLOUGH AND THE STARS, THE SCHOOL FOR SCANDAL among others. In addition, his directorial credits include productions at Dublin's Gate Theatre, Arena Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre, The Public Theater, The Acting Company, American Repertory Theatre, Stratford Festival, Roundabout Theatre Company and Geffen Playhouse, among numerous others. This marks his eighth production of MIDSUMMER.
