The Guthrie presents
A Live Action Set production of
My Father's Bookshelf
a collaborative creation by Live Action Set
co-directed by Galen Treuer and Noah Bremer
The Guthrie presents My Father’s Bookshelf, a world premiere by Twin Cities theater makers Live Action Set. In collaboration with members of the Minnesota Alzheimer’s community, Live Action Set has created a tragic comedy about our collective response to dementia. In a world of doctors, care providers, lost memories and people who try to take away the car keys, one extremely affable, optimistic man with Alzheimer’s disease explores the joys of life, set against the struggles of his family and the passionate lecture of a neuroscientist.
As part of My Father’s Bookshelf audiences are invited to participate in post-show discussions with community members who live and work with Alzheimer’s. To learn about workshops for families, caregivers and performers, visit www.liveactionset.org.
