by Charles Dickens
adapted by Barbara Field
directed by Gary Gisselman
It's back, and it's better than ever. This season the Guthrie celebrates the 35th Anniversary of the beloved holiday favorite A Christmas Carol with a brand new 90-minute adaptation perfectly suited for families of all sizes, theatergoers young and old. Inspired by Charles Dickens' classic tale, A Christmas Carol follows the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge – played by longtime Guthrie actor and film star Peter Michael Goetz – as he encounters the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, all of whom inspire him to reevaluate his cantankerous ways and limited worldview. This fresh production will maintain the heart and soul audiences have grown to love over more than three decades.
Join us before selected performances of A Christmas Carol to listen to local bands and choirs entertain audiences with holiday music in the lobbies.
