FAQ
The Guthrie Theater is open for rentals Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). All building rentals are subject to availability based on other events and performances happening in the building.
The Guthrie’s theater season runs from September to August and is usually announced in the spring. Our Events Team can confirm event dates for the upcoming season once the Guthrie performance calendar has been finalized.
The Event and Facility Sales Manager can provide available dates once an inquiry is submitted.
We split our charges as follows:
- Venue Rental: This is the base cost for the spaces rented. We offer a 15% discount if more than one space is rented for an event (not in conjunction with any other discount).
- Event Services: This is for the labor that makes your event a success. This includes Event Management, Production, Guest and Audience Services, Public Safety and Environmental Services. We are a union house, so there is also a charge for any union labor such as sound, lighting and stage crew, if required.
- Equipment: We have a selection of furniture, linens and AV equipment onsite that we are happy to provide for your event.
Following a building tour, the Event and Facility Sales Manager will put together a custom proposal that breaks down these charges in a clear, concise way to ensure you have full clarity and oversight of how the Guthrie can best support your event.
Yes! We are available to give tours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only (subject to availability). Please submit an inquiry form, and the Event and Facility Sales Manager will follow up with options and details for your visit.
If you are not local, we can also schedule a virtual call to discuss your rental needs.
The Guthrie Events Team will provide an approved list of food and beverage caterers for event rentals and will assist with introducing you to these vendors, following an initial consultation.
A nonrefundable deposit and signed contract are required to reserve the space, date and time. The deposit is 50% of the total proposed charge. The remainder of the building rental balance is due in full 30 days prior to the event date.
You will have a fully dedicated Events Team, as well as our Guest Services and Public Safety Teams, available to make you feel welcome, supported and safe at the Guthrie.
Parking is available at several local ramps — the closest being the Riverfront Municipal and Mill City Quarter Ramps. We also have local valet partners that we would be happy to connect you with.
We have a selection of AV options for your event as well as union technicians with a wealth of theater experience to make your event unique and unforgettable.
We also work with a number of local third-party vendors who can supply and install resources that are unavailable in-house.
The Wurtele Thrust Stage, McGuire Proscenium Stage and Dowling Studio may be rented in combination with the rental of other event spaces for conferences, weddings and more. The Guthrie Events Team will find available dates that work with the Guthrie’s existing performance calendar.
All productions and performances on our mainstages are curated by our internal Artistic Team, and we are not currently hosting externally produced performances on our stages. Our Events Team will be happy to connect you with other local venues that can support independent productions.
