Located in the historic Mill District of downtown Minneapolis, the Guthrie Theater is open to the public year-round. From our iconic blue building on the banks of the Mississippi River, we serve the Twin Cities community and the people of Minnesota through a variety of programming both on and off the stage.
Whether you’re stopping by to see a show, explore our public spaces or take in the stunning city views, we can’t wait to welcome you.
Our spaces
The Guthrie building is a modern architectural gem designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel. As he noted in his design statement, “The Guthrie is coming to settle in the historic golden rectangle near the falls, next to the old mills, in the industrial quarter that invented Minneapolis. Thus two histories, two legends, meet.”
We house three state-of-the-art stages, in-house production facilities, classrooms, dramatic public lobbies and a restaurant space that will soon be the new home to Owamni, the James Beard Award-winning restaurant by Chef Sean Sherman.
Dining at the Guthrie
Indígena by Owamni (pronounced: in-DEE-heh-nah), founded by Chef Sean Sherman, is officially open in our Level One restaurant space. In addition to showcasing a broad diversity of Indigenous cuisines, this one-of-a-kind dining destination is the perfect spot to grab a bite before or after a Guthrie show. We look forward to sharing meals together at this award-winning Indigenous restaurant built around bringing people together.
Reservations are available through OpenTable.
