Our Box Office Team goes above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service and help you find the best tickets for your theatergoing needs.

To ensure everything goes smoothly, we encourage you to purchase tickets directly from the Guthrie, as we can only verify tickets issued through our Box Office. FAQ

How can I purchase tickets?

The Guthrie Theater Box Office is the only official and most secure source for Guthrie tickets. There are three ways to purchase authorized tickets:

  • Online: guthrietheater.org
  • By Phone: 612.377.2224 or 1.877.447.8243 (toll-free)
  • In Person: 818 South 2nd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415

Follow these best practices when purchasing tickets online:

  • Purchase only on guthrietheater.org (you’ll be redirected to our secure site: securesite.guthrietheater.org after selecting tickets).
  • Type the Guthrie website directly into your browser instead of using search engines.
  • Avoid clicking on search listings labeled as ads.
  • Before completing your purchase, confirm the web address is securesite.guthrietheater.org.
  • If tickets are unavailable, contact the Box Office rather than searching third-party sites.
What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express, as well as Apple Pay at the Box Office window.

Do you offer mobile/digital tickets?

To make ticket delivery more secure and convenient, we’re partnering with True Tickets to launch digital ticketing in April 2026. Here's how it will work:

  • If you selected digital tickets at checkout, you’ll receive a link to your digital wallet, accessible on any smartphone
  • Visit tickets.guthrietheater.org and log in using your Guthrie account credentials; no new password is required
  • No app download needed; tickets may be saved to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet
  • Each ticket includes a QR code for quick scanning upon arrival
What if I lost my ticket?

No problem. Call the Box Office or email [email protected] and we’ll be happy to help.

What if I can no longer make my performance?

Ticket exchanges and donations must be made by 4 p.m. on the day of your scheduled evening performance (noon for a matinee) with the Box Office. Exchange fees may apply. There are no exchanges for group tickets (once payment has been received), special events or presentations.

If bad weather prevents you from attending, call the Box Office as soon as possible (no later than the day after the missed performance) to make alternative arrangements.

Do you offer refunds on tickets?

There are no refunds on tickets. If you are unable to attend a performance because you are sick, you may call the Box Office at 612.377.2224 to exchange your tickets no later than 4 p.m. on the day of your scheduled performance (noon for a matinee).

Do you offer ticket discounts?

We offer a variety of opportunities and programs to ensure our ticket prices are accessible to as many people as possible. Visit our Discounts page for details. We also invite you to consider becoming a season ticket holder, which is the most affordable way to experience the Guthrie. You can save up to 50% on single tickets when you subscribe!

Is there a rush line for every performance?

Rush ticket availability is based on current ticket sales for any given performance If seats are available, the rush line will open at the Box Office window one hour prior to the performance. Once you arrive, look for signs marking the beginning of the rush line. Cash, check and credit cards are all accepted for payment.

Members of our free Rush Club can purchase tickets two hours before the performance without waiting in the public rush line. To join, call or visit the Box Office.

Do you hold tickets aside for people in the rush line?

No tickets are reserved for the rush line. Rush tickets cannot be held for patrons in advance and are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats will be the best available at the time of purchase.

What fees are added to my ticket?

For single ticket orders placed in person at the Box Office, a $1 per-ticket handling fee will be charged regardless of the ticket price. For single ticket orders placed online or by phone, a per-ticket handling fee will be charged based on the ticket price:

  • $1 per single ticket priced $1.00 – $19.99
  • $3 per single ticket priced $20 – $29.99
  • $5 per single ticket priced $30 – $49.99
  • $7 per single ticket priced $50 or more

There is a $10 handling fee per subscription order when you purchase online, by phone or in person at the Box Office.

Do you donate tickets to community fundraisers?

We are dedicated to creating transformative theater experiences for all, regardless of ability to pay. Each season, we offer a variety of discount ticket programs and provide free or low-cost tickets to thousands of students across the region through our student matinee program. Because we already serve the community in this way, our ability to donate performance tickets is limited.

Although we would like to grant all requests, we only accept donation requests from fellow 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organizations. If you meet these requirements and would like to request a donation, email [email protected].
