Theater in Focus
Welcome educators!
Theater in Focus is a free resource for educators which enables you to bring the thrill of live performance to your classroom. Each high-quality, filmed Guthrie production is paired with timestamped discussion prompts to guide students through the viewing experience. Enrich your study of the play with a menu of activities designed to be used with either the film or the text. This curriculum was developed as a guide for educators to use in high school, college or university instruction.

FAQ
How do I access Theater in Focus materials?
The materials are all available for download on the Guthrie website. To view the films, educators must complete the registration online or by calling our Box Office. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with links and access instructions.
Links to access the films will expire yearly on August 31. Once expired, you will need to register again for a new link.
May I share these resources?
We encourage you to spread the word about Theater in Focus in your professional networks. Each educator must register their class individually to gain access to the films.
What if I have trouble streaming the video due to weak Wi-Fi or other technical issues?
We recommend locating a stable internet connection outside of your school and using the download feature on Vimeo. To download a video, click the Download button that appears below the video player. A menu will appear with links for several versions of the video. Depending on your browser, clicking the link may result in the video playing in a new tab instead of downloading the file to your computer. If this occurs, please do the following:
- WINDOWS USERS: Right-click on the link and choose “Save as” or “Save target as” to save to your computer.
- MAC USERS: Press and hold the Control key, click the link and choose “Save link as” or “Download linked file” to save to your computer.
If I have access to the video and a strong internet connection but still cannot stream the video, what should I do?
Visit the Vimeo Help Center for troubleshooting assistance. If you still need help or have questions, email the Guthrie Education Team at education@guthrietheater.org. We are happy to help!
How long will I have access to the video and curriculum?
Links to access the films are reset yearly. If you are having trouble accessing a film, please email education@guthrietheater.org.
What accessibility resources are available with the curriculum?
We created Theater in Focus with accessibility and adaptability in mind. Closed captioning is available on the video through Vimeo. The curriculum itself is adaptable for in-person, hybrid, virtual and asynchronous learning environments. All content is downloadable.
