Go behind the scenes of this world-renowned theater through a unique tour experience perfect for individuals or groups. Due to popularity, advance reservations are strongly encouraged. Tours for groups may be arranged by contacting Group Sales at

Tour routes are subject to change based on theater programming and special events. All tours are accessible, and ASL-interpreted tours may be arranged by contacting (two weeks’ notice required).  

Backstage Tour (45 minutes)

Visit the thrust and proscenium stages, scene shop, costume shop, prop shop, rehearsal rooms and more.

Friday & Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.

$12 per person
$7 for subscribers, students and seniors

Architecture Tour (75 minutes)

Discover the Guthrie as an architectural marvel (designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel), including site selection, groundbreaking, neighborhood influences and noteworthy elements that have garnered worldwide attention.

First Saturday of each month at 9 a.m., and the third Saturday at 10 a.m. 

$17 for adults 
$12 for subscribers, students and seniors

Costume Rentals Tour (45 minutes)

Explore one of the nation’s most expansive collections of theatrical costumes, boasting more than 50,000 pieces at our off-site warehouse. 

First Saturday of each month at 11:30 a.m. 

$12 per person 
$7 for subscribers, students and seniors
