Ticket policies

Official point of purchase: The Guthrie Theater Box Office is the only official and most secure source for Guthrie tickets. We cannot guarantee the validity of tickets purchased through any other vendor or third-party seller.

There are three ways to purchase authorized tickets through the Guthrie Box Office:

  • Online: guthrietheater.org
  • By Phone: 612.377.2224 or 1.877.447.8243 (toll-free)
  • In Person: 818 South 2nd Street, Minneapolis, MN 55415

Follow these best practices when purchasing tickets online:

  • Purchase only on guthrietheater.org (you’ll be redirected to our secure site: securesite.guthrietheater.org after selecting tickets).
  • Type the Guthrie website directly into your browser instead of using search engines.
  • Avoid clicking on search listings labeled as ads.
  • Before completing your purchase, confirm the web address is securesite.guthrietheater.org.
  • If tickets are unavailable, contact the Box Office rather than searching third-party sites.

All-in pricing and handling fees
Minnesota law requires ticket prices to include all mandatory fees upfront. That means the first price you see is the total cost. As a nonprofit organization, the Guthrie relies on support from ticket revenue and donations. Handling fees generate critical revenue that helps cover the cost of credit card fees, ensure safe and secure online transactions, and provide exceptional Box Office service to patrons. The following handling fees are applied to each order:

Single tickets

For single ticket orders placed in person at the Box Office, there is a $1 per-ticket handling fee at all price levels. For single ticket orders placed online or by phone, a per-ticket handling fee will be charged based on the ticket price:

  • $1 per single ticket priced $1.00 – $19.99
  • $3 per single ticket priced $20 – $29.99
  • $5 per single ticket priced $30 – $49.99
  • $7 per single ticket priced $50 or more

Season tickets
There is a $10 handling fee per subscription order when you purchase online, by phone or in person at the Box Office. This applies to both traditional subscription and flex pass orders.

Group and tour tickets
There is a $1 per-ticket handling fee at all price levels when you purchase online, by phone or in person at the Box Office.

Private tours

Ticket resale and third-party purchases: Tickets for Guthrie performances are intended for personal use only and may not be listed or resold on unauthorized marketplaces. While ticket resale is not prohibited under Minnesota law, the Guthrie reserves the right to:

  • Delay ticket delivery or revoke tickets when necessary to protect patrons and reduce fraud.

  • Void tickets not purchased directly from the Guthrie.

  • Deny entry to anyone presenting tickets acquired through unauthorized channels.

Tickets purchased through unauthorized sources are considered invalid and will not be honored. They are ineligible for exchanges, refunds, donations or customer service assistance. If you purchased a ticket from a third-party seller, contact the seller directly for any refund requests.

The Guthrie does not guarantee the authenticity of tickets purchased through brokers, agencies, or third-party sellers and cannot assist with issues related to the orders.

The use of bots, false identities or other deceptive methods to evade ticket limits or acquire tickets for resale is strictly prohibited by law. Violations may result in ticket cancellation without refund.
