Mystery Play Club
Tuesdays, March 25 – May 13, 1–2:30 p.m.
Level Five
You’re invited to join the Guthrie’s Artistic Team in an eight-week play-reading club. We'll read notable mystery scripts together and dig into each story in a casual conversation led by a member of the Artistic Team. Our final script will be Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, running this spring on the McGuire Proscenium Stage. Spend your afternoon with a cup of coffee or tea while learning about iconic mysteries and suspense thrillers of the stage.
This series is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Scripts are available for purchase in the Guthrie Store or at guthriestore.com. Save 10% when you purchase all six (subscribers save more when they use their store discount code at checkout).

Acting for Indigenous Performers: Scene Study
Saturdays, April 19 – May 24 | 10 a.m. – noon (no class on April 26)

The Guthrie Theater is offering a free acting class that is open to Native communities! We welcome Native community members of all backgrounds and experiences to attend a free five-week exploration of acting from a Native perspective. Participants will dig into cold reading, script analysis, character work and an introduction to the Meisner Technique that will lead to a final showcase — all in an environment created by, for and with Native voices. All experience levels welcome. No prerequisite. Age range: High school or older. Capacity: 14 participants.

Trish Cook Presents
Death, Grief and Dying: Indigenous Humor While Crying

Join Minneapolis-based comedian and raconteur Trish Cook (Anishinaabe) with special guest Deanna StandingCloud (Red Lake Nation of Anishinaabe) for a special event highlighting the nuances of grief with a well-balanced side of Indigenous humor. Experience firsthand that laughter is medicine, especially in our darkest times. ASL interpretration will be provided by Angela Blackdeer from Indigenous Interpreters Organization. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The Mousetrap How’d They Do That? Workshop

Join us for an inside look at the artistry behind The Mousetrap, now playing on the McGuire Proscenium Stage. Bring your coffee and listen in as Director of Community Engagement Amanda White chats with the artists who brought this popular murder mystery to life, including Director Tracy Brigden, Vocal Coach Keely Wolter, cast member Greg Cuellar and Head of Props Karin Rabe Vance. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

More Than a Single Story and Hennepin County Library will bring #1 New York Times bestselling children and young adult book author and MacArthur Fellow Jason Reynolds to the Guthrie. Reynolds will be joined in an afternoon conversation with local award-winning young adult author Shannon Gibney and two 15-year-old readers, Boisey Corvah and Asher Parks.

BIPOC Community Night

BIPOC professionals and community members are invited to join us for a night of networking and theater. The evening includes a pre-show reception with complimentary refreshments by Pimento Jamaican Kitchen, plus a ticket to the 7:30 p.m. performance of The Nacirema Society.
